This book is an invitation to share in that curiosity about the historical Jesus, what his life was like 2,000+ years ago, what his community experienced, what his teachings meant, and, most importantly, what they can teach us about advancing justice in our neighborhoods and communities through a community organizing framework, grounded in a deeply rooted spiritual life. This book is for everyone. If you are a spiritual seeker, community organizer, activist, an everyday church goer, someone who may not belong to a church, or a person who cares about justice and compassion, this book is for you. 

This is the first booklet of three, culminating in 13 chapters total. The booklets are divided into the Personhood of Jesus, Jesus’ Ministry and Movement, and, lastly, Jesus Confronts the Empire. In the final booklet, we will offer a workshop template through a popular education methodology that we have done in many of our training sessions with community members. Use this material as you feel called to in your work for justice.
